Explore Osaka's surroundings by going to CUPNOODLES MUSEUM OSAKA IKEDA (in Ikeda), Nara (Nara National Museum, Nigatsu-do Temple, & more) and Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum (in Higashinada). Getting from Osaka to Naoshima-cho by combination of train, bus, and ferry takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of bus and ferry. In December, daytime highs in Naoshima-cho are 11°C, while nighttime lows are 3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 22nd (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Explore hidden gems such as Tenryuji Temple and Nanzen-ji Temple. Your inner history buff will appreciate Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Toji. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Ise (Sengukan, Oharai-machi, & more). The adventure continues: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Shimogamo Jinja, and don't miss a visit to Eikando Zenrinji Temple.

You can do a combination of ferry, bus, and train from Naoshima-cho to Kyoto in 3 hours. Another option is to do a combination of ferry and bus. In December in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 13°C during the day and 4°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Thu) so you can travel to Tokyo.

Museum-lovers will get to explore Pola Museum of Art and Ghibli Museum Mitaka. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple and Asakusa Shrine. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Kinomiya Shrine (in Atami), Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu (in Hakone-machi) and Samukawa Shrine (in Samukawa-machi). There's still lots to do: shop like a local with Minato Mirai 21, take a stroll through Yanaka, have fun and explore at KidZania Tokyo, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Kashima Jingū Shrine.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Tokyo in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In December, daily temperatures in Tokyo can reach 14°C, while at night they dip to 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 1st (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
