Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Sunset Owl Cafe and Nishinomiya Shrine. Change things up with these side-trips from Osaka: Awaji (Nojima Fault Preservation Museum, Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park, & more), Muroji Temple (in Uda) and Chuo (Minatogawa Shrine, Kawasaki Good Times World, & more). There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Omiwa Shrine, walk around Minoo Park, shop like a local with Hankyu Umeda Main Store, and make a trip to The Symphony Hall.

To find traveler tips, reviews, ratings, and tourist information, go to the Osaka trip planner.
