Tokyo is known for historic sites, shopping, parks, museums, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji, take in panoramic vistas at Tokyo Skytree, and get a sense of history and politics at Imperial Palace.

Madrid, Spain to Tokyo is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of train and flight. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually an 8 hour difference. Plan for somewhat warmer nights when traveling from Madrid in August since evenings lows in Tokyo dip to 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) so you can travel to Kamakura.

The coastal town of Kamakura sits close to Tokyo, with the ancient settlement featuring a number of important historical and cultural sites.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Wed): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kōtoku-in, then steep yourself in history at Hase-dera Temple, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Shojoken Ovservatory. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the natural beauty at Nagakubo Park, head off the coast to Enoshima Island, and then stroll through Moroiso Shores.

Getting from Tokyo to Kamakura by train takes about 1.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Tokyo in August, plan for little chillier days in Kamakura, with highs around 31°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 29°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Kanazawa.
