Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Step out of the city life by going to Koura Beach and Moriya Beach. Do your shopping at Asakusa and Minato Mirai 21. Venture out of the city with trips to Hase-dera Temple (in Kamakura) and Mitsuishi Beach (in Manazuru-machi). There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Asakusa Shrine, wander the streets of Ueno, see the interesting displays at Samurai Museum, and make a trip to Tokyo Central Railway Station.

Frankfurt, Germany to Tokyo is an approximately 14-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Frankfurt to Tokyo, you'll lose 8 hours due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Frankfurt in August, things will get a bit warmer in Tokyo: highs are around 36°C and lows about 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Sat) so you can travel to Kyoto.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In August, plan for daily highs up to 39°C, and evening lows to 29°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Osaka.

Popular historic sites such as Koyasan Okunoin and Kofuku-ji Temple are in your itinerary. Get some cultural insight at Nara Park and Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. Venture out of the city with trips to Arima Onsen (in Kita), Kasuga Grand Shrine (in Nara) and Koya-cho (Koyasan Danjo Garan & Kongobu-ji Temple).
