Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.
Venture out of the city with trips to Yeh Liu Geo Park (in Wanli) and Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) (in Ruifang). The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Start off your visit on the 28th (Sat): explore the world behind art at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kushida Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Tenman-gu, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Komyozen-ji Temple, and finally go for a walk through Ohori Park. On your second day here, stop by Kobo Tottan, admire the natural beauty at Kurume Tsubaki Park, and then admire the striking features of Hakata Station.

Traveling by combination of train and flight from Seoul to Fukuoka takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of train and ferry. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Seoul in March: high temperatures in Fukuoka hover around 17°C and lows are around 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sun) so you can take a train to Kyoto.
