Step out of the city life by going to Okurayama Lookout and Earth Dream Kakuyama Farm. Sapporo Clock Tower and Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku-no Mura) are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Ranking as the most popular ski resort in Hokkaido, mountaintop Niseko-cho boasts great slopes and surprisingly vibrant nightlife.
On the 28th (Sat), fly down the slopes at Niseko Outdoor Center and then hit the slopes at Niseko Mountain Resort Grand Hirafu Ski Place. Here are some ideas for day two: fly down the slopes at Rusutsu Resort and then stroll around Fukidashi Park.

A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Kick off your visit on the 30th (Mon): take in the awesome beauty at Mount Hakodate, contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, then take in panoramic vistas at Goryokaku Tower, and finally admire the striking features of Goryokaku Park. Keep things going the next day: appreciate the extensive heritage of Onuma Park Walking Path, hunt for treasures at Hakodate Morning Market, then stop by Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, and finally wander the streets of Motomachi.

The port city of Otaru has long attracted domestic visitors, drawn in by the city's many historic buildings, and has started to garner international attention, too.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Otaru Museum, Bank of Japan and Otaru Miyakodori Shopping District. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Otaru Music Box Museum Main Building and Sankaku Market. Change things up with these side-trips from Otaru: Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery (in Yoichi-cho), Shimamu Beach (in Shakotan-cho) and Kiroro Snow World (in Akaigawa-mura). Getting from Hakodate to Otaru by car takes about 3.5 hours. Other options: fly; or do a combination of flight and train. When traveling from Hakodate in January, plan for little chillier days in Otaru, with highs around -3°C, while nights are about the same with lows around -6°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Asahikawa.
