The Jackson Hole valley is approximately 97 km (60 mi) long and 24 km (15 mi) wide, encompassing the town of Jackson, Teton Village, and the northern section of Grand Teton National Park.

Generally considered to be the oldest town established by European Americans in the Black Hills, Custer began as a mining town.
Step off the beaten path and head to Cathedral Spires Hiking Trail and Breezy Point Picnic Area. When in Custer, make a side trip to see Elk Mountain Nature Trail in Wind Cave National Park, approximately Wind Cave National Park away. There's lots more to do: take in the pleasant sights at Sunday Gulch Trail, appreciate the history behind Bicycle Sculpture, explore the activities along Legion Lake, and explore the striking landscape at Needles Eye Tunnel.
