Edinburgh is known for historic sites, museums, and nightlife. Your plan includes some of its best attractions: step into the grandiose world of Edinburgh Castle, take in the local highlights with Walking tours, get great views at Calton Hill, and pause for some photo ops at Scott Monument.

Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Venture out of the city with trips to Glenfinnan Viaduct (in Glenfinnan), Morar Beach (in Morar) and Camusdarach Beach (in Arisaig). There's still lots to do: admire the verdant scenery at Glen Coe, explore the activities along Loch Linnhe Picnic Area, trek along Lost Valley Trail, and take in the dramatic scenery at Steall Waterfall.

Getting from Edinburgh to Fort William by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Inverness.

Inverness

Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Change things up with these side-trips from Inverness: Bowhunter Archery (in Nairn) and Aigas Field Centre (in Beauly). The adventure continues: gain some tasty knowledge on a distillery tour, take in the history at Culloden Battlefield, have some family-friendly fun at Wildwoodz, and walk around Ness Islands.

A World Heritage Site, Bath has been one of Europe’s most popular spa destinations since the Roman era.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Thu): take an unorthodox tour of Stonehenge, thenadmire the striking features of Bath Abbey, and then steep yourself in history at The Roman Baths. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Corinium Museum, thenget outside with The Cotswold Range, and then contemplate the long history of Chavenage House.
