Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Get a sense of the local culture at Culloden Battlefield and St Regulus. Nigg Old Church and Clava Cairns will appeal to history buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Inverness: RZSS Highland Wildlife Park (in Kingussie), Cairngorm Reindeer Centre (in Glenmore) and Cairngorm Mountain (in Aviemore). It doesn't end there: stroll the grounds of Wardlaw Mausoleum.
