A resort town on the country's scenic Adriatic coastline, Portoroz offers many spas with all kinds of therapeutic treatments, many based on the brine and mud from the area's salt pans.
Take a break from the city and head to Tolmin Gorge and Cross Cave. Step off the beaten path and head to Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower and Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum. Venture out of the city with trips to Church of St. Daniel (in Štanjel), Kobarid (Isonzo & Kozjak Waterfall) and Hrastovlje Church of the Holy Trinity (in Hrastovlje). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Portorož Beach, get curious at Magical World of Shells Museum, admire the landmark architecture of Praetorian Palace, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. George's Church.
