Alytus

Alytus is a city with municipal rights in southern Lithuania. Your inner history buff will appreciate Sv. Angelu sargu baznycia and Simnas Church. Step off the beaten path and head to Zervynos Ethnographic Village and Alytaus Miesto Parkas. Get out of town with these interesting Alytus side-trips: Assumption of Blessed Mary Virgin Church (in Pivasiunai) and Merkine Mound (in Merkine). There's lots more to do: take in the views from White Rose Bridge, walk around Alytus Town Hall Square, see the interesting displays at Alytus Museum, and pause for some photo ops at Angel of Freedom.
