A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.

Singapore, Singapore to Sapporo is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 9th (Mon), wander the streets of Pontocho, explore the activities along Kamogawa River, then admire the striking features of Kyoto Station Building, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Ginkakuji Temple, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple.

The port city of Otaru has long attracted domestic visitors, drawn in by the city's many historic buildings, and has started to garner international attention, too.
On the 11th (Wed), get a sense of history and politics at Otaru City Office, then soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, then look for gifts at Otaru Sakaimachi Street, and finally wander the streets of Otaru Miyakodori Shopping District. You can do a combination of flight and train from Tokyo to Otaru in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, taxi, and flight; or fly. Traveling from Tokyo in December, expect nights in Otaru to be little chillier, around -2°C, while days are cooler, around 0°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 13th (Fri) to allow time for travel back home.
