The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Nishiki Market, Kyoto International Manga Museum and Gion. Get some historical perspective at Shoren-in Temple (Shoren-in Monzeki) and Kodai-ji Temple. Hanoi, Vietnam to Kyoto is an approximately 9-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of flight and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Hanoi to Kyoto. Expect a daytime high around 39°C in August, and nighttime lows around 29°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Fuji.

Fuji is a city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Visit Tagosehama Beach and Koganezaki Beach for some beach relaxation. Escape the urban bustle at Nature & Wildlife Tours and Dogashima Tensodo Cave. Change things up with these side-trips from Fuji: Shiraito Falls (in Fujinomiya) and Mishima Taisha Shrine (in Mishima).

Take a train from Kyoto to Fuji in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. When traveling from Kyoto in August, plan for little chillier days and about the same nights in Fuji: temperatures range from 32°C by day to 29°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Tokyo.

Traveling by train from Fuji to Tokyo takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Fuji in August: highs in Tokyo hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sat) so you can travel to Hakodate.
