A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Sunayama Beach and Toguchi no Hama. Escape the urban bustle at Aragusuku Beach and Yonaha Maehama Beach. There's still lots to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, snap pictures at Kurima Bridge, visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, and head off the coast to Shimojiiima Island.

Start off your visit on the 8th (Tue): kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, then visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki, and then take in panoramic vistas at Tamatorizaki Observatory. Start off your visit on the 10th (Thu): steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, then contemplate the long history of Tofuku-ji Temple, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine.
