Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Appreciate the collections at Tokyo National Museum and Art Jeunesse Akihabara. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Samurai Museum and Ueno. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Mt. Takao (in Hachioji), Shirosaki Beach (in Kamogawa) and Shirasato Central Beach (in Oamishirasato). There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Senso-ji Temple, take a stroll through Ginza, steep yourself in history at Hase-dera Temple, and examine the collection at Edo-Tokyo Museum.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. In June, daytime highs in Tokyo are 30°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Wed) to allow time to travel to Fuji.

Fuji is a city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Kick off your visit on the 10th (Wed): stop by Tago no Tsuki Honten, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, then see the interesting displays at Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Fuji takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. When traveling from Tokyo in July, plan for slightly colder days in Fuji, with highs around 32°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
On the 11th (Thu), see the interesting displays at Kyoto Samurai & Ninja Museum, contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, then see the interesting displays at Kyoto Railway Museum, and finally examine the collection at Kyoto International Manga Museum. On the next day, take an in-depth tour of Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, then steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, then make a trip to Gion, and finally explore the world behind art at Forever Museum of Contemporary Art.

Traveling by train from Fuji to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train, flight, and tram. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Fuji in July: highs in Kyoto hover around 37°C, while lows dip to 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.
