The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Kick off your visit on the 21st (Tue): don't miss a visit to Nishi no Maru Nagatsubone, steep yourself in history at Nishi no Maru, step into the grandiose world of Himeji Castle, then take in nature's colorful creations at Koko-en Garden, then go for a walk through Otokoyama Haisuiike Park, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Nagoyama Reien Busharito.

Traveling by car from Osaka to Himeji takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. When traveling from Osaka in April, plan for a bit cooler days in Himeji, with highs around 20°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 14°C.
