Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Takeshita Street, Museum of Yebisu Beer, Yoyogi Park, and other attractions you added. Asakusa Shrine and Sensō-ji will appeal to history buffs. Escape the urban bustle at Mt. Takao and Carnivorous plant habitat in Togane, Naruto. Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Mitsumine Shrine (Chichibu) (in Chichibu) and Kencho-ji Temple (in Kamakura). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Ueno, get to know the fascinating history of Hozomon, and stroll around Kokyo Gaien National Garden.

Brisbane, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Brisbane to Tokyo. Traveling from Brisbane in November, things will get a bit cooler in Tokyo: highs are around 19°C and lows about 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Thu) to allow enough time to travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Visit Jojakkoji Temple and Nishi Honganji for their historical value. Get some cultural insight at Kamigamo Shrine and Pontocho. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sanzen-in Temple, contemplate the long history of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, and get to know the fascinating history of Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple.

Take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. Expect a daytime high around 19°C in November, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sun) so you can catch the train to Osaka.

Start off your visit on the 25th (Mon): explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, then steep yourself in history at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, and then get to know the fascinating history of Hozenji Yokocho.
