Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Maritime Museum of Tasmania and Salamanca Arts Centre will appeal to museum buffs. Do some cultural sightseeing at St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and St. David's Cathedral. Take a break from Hobart with a short trip to Cape Bruny Lighthouse in Bruny Island, about 3h 30 min away. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Runnymede House, explore the world behind art at Lady Franklin Gallery, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Wellington, and take in the waterfront at Constitution Dock.

Canberra to Hobart is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of bus, train, and ferry.
