The main tourist town in the Bay of Islands area, Paihia gives visitors a good range of accommodations, a convenient town center, long sandy beaches, and interesting architecture.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Waitangi Treaty Grounds and KeriKeri New Zealand. Take a break from the city and head to Scuba & Snorkeling and Fishing Charters & Tours. There's still lots to do: see majestic marine mammals with a dolphin and whale watching tour, fly like a bird with a parasailing or paragliding tour, surround yourself with nature on a nature and wildlife tour, and take in the dramatic scenery at Haruru Falls.

Sydney, Australia to Paihia is an approximately 8-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Sydney to Paihia. Cap off your sightseeing on the 30th (Mon) early enough to travel to Rotorua.

Surrounded by lakes and featuring impressive areas of geothermal landscape, the city of Rotorua offers an otherwordly landscape and a welcoming, peaceful environment, with the culture of the native Maori people very much in the foreground.
Get in touch with nature at Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and Huka Falls Walkway. Kids will enjoy Rainbow Springs Nature Park and Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park. Go for a jaunt from Rotorua to Taupo to see Adrenaline & Extreme Tours about 1h 05 min away. There's still lots to do: get interesting insight from Tours, identify plant and animal life at Redwoods Treewalk, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and delve into the lush surroundings at Redwoods, Whakarewarewa Forest.
