The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
On the 5th (Sun), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tochoji Temple, then get to know the fascinating history of Yoshinogari Historical Park, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kamado Shrine, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Miyajidake Shrine. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: head off the coast to Nokonoshima Island, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nanzoin, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kashii-gu, and finally take in nature's colorful creations at Uminonakamichi Seaside Park.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Yutoku Inari Shrine and Shitsu Church. Get some historical perspective at Suwa Shrine and Nyokodo, Nagai Takashi Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Nagasaki: Miuracho Catholic Church (in Sasebo) and Onsen Resorts (in Unzen). A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Yakusugi Land and Anbo River. Take a break from the city and head to Seibu Trail and Yaksushima Trecking, Jomon Japanese Cedar Course. There's still lots to do: admire the verdant scenery at Yoggo Valley and make a trip to Wilson Stump.

Traveling by combination of train, flight, and taxi from Nagasaki to Yakushima-cho takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, ferry, and taxi; or do a combination of ferry and car. In April in Yakushima-cho, expect temperatures between 25°C during the day and 17°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel to Kagoshima.

Kick off your visit on the 13th (Mon): take in the spiritual surroundings of Buried Shrine Gate, enjoy breathtaking views from Yunohira Lookout, make a trip to Temmonkan Mujyaki, then stroll through Mt. Shiroyama, and finally meet the residents at Kagoshima City Aquarium.

You can do a combination of taxi and flight from Yakushima-cho to Kagoshima in 3.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of taxi and ferry. Plan for a bit cooler nights when traveling from Yakushima-cho in April since evenings lows in Kagoshima dip to 12°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 13th (Mon) so you can catch the train to Miyazaki.
