Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Rainbow Bridge, Yodobashi Camera Shinjuku West Main Store, Shinjuku Golden Gai, and other attractions you added. Head to Ginza and Diver City Tokyo Plazafor plenty of shopping. Get a sense of the local culture at Odaiba and Kōtoku-in. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Kamakura (Hase-dera Temple & Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine), Sankeien Gardens (in Naka) and Tokyo DisneySea (in Maihama). The adventure continues: take a stroll through Asakusa, stroll around Ueno Park, don't miss a visit to Tokyo Tower, and get a taste of the local shopping with Kitchen Town (Kappabashi).

San Diego, USA to Tokyo is an approximately 14-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of bus and flight. You'll lose 17 hours traveling from San Diego to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Hakone Sekisho and Hakone Sekisho Museum, Hakone Ropeway, Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), and other attractions you added. You can take a train from Tokyo to Hakone-machi in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Tokyo in October: highs in Hakone-machi hover around 62°F, while lows dip to 59°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Thu) so you can travel to Kyoto.

Your list of things to see and do now includes Pokemon Center Kyoto, Nishiki Market, Ginkaku-ji Temple, and other attractions. Get some cultural insight at Shugakuin Imperial Villa and Tenryuji Temple. Visit Saihoji Temple and Kamigamo Shrine for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Ritsuin Temple (in Otsu) and Hikone Castle (in Hikone). Traveling by train from Hakone-machi to Kyoto takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. When traveling from Hakone-machi in October, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Kyoto: temperatures range from 74°F by day to 60°F at night. You'll have a few hours on the 21st (Mon) to wrap things up before traveling to Osaka.
