Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Pola Museum of Art and Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu. Visit Tokyo National Museum and Senso-ji Temple for their historical value. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Toji and Daimaru Museum Umeda. Visit Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji for their historical value. Go for a jaunt from Kyoto to Osaka to see Dotonbori about 1h 10 min away. Next up on the itinerary: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Chion-in Temple.

Take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In June in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 32°C during the day and 22°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to catch the train to Hiroshima.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Start off your visit on the 26th (Fri): kick back and relax at Toguchi no Hama, then take in the views from Irabu Ohashi, then head outdoors with Yonaha Maehama Beach, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Aragusuku Beach. On the next day, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, then enjoy the sand and surf at Sunayama Beach, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Yabiji.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Miyakojima in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Prepare for a bit warmer weather when traveling from Hiroshima in June: high temperatures in Miyakojima hover around 36°C and lows are around 30°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 27th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Ishigaki.
