The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Popular historic sites such as Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Temple are in your itinerary. Do your shopping at Nishiki Market and Fuuka-Kimono. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, see the interesting displays at Kyoto International Manga Museum, steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and explore the world behind art at Hosomi Museum.

Museum-lovers will appreciate Museum of Oriental Ceramics and Todaiji Temple Cultural Center. Nara Park and Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Venture out of the city with trips to Ikeda (CUPNOODLES MUSEUM OSAKA IKEDA & Ichizo Kobayashi Memorial Museum), Higashinada (Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum & Kobe Fashion Museum) and Nara (Kasuga Grand Shrine & Todai-ji Temple). The adventure continues: wander the streets of Dotonbori, step into the grandiose world of Osaka Castle, and examine the collection at Namban Culture Center.

Osaka is just a short distance from Kyoto. In June, daytime highs in Osaka are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) early enough to travel to Hiroshima.

Traveling by train from Osaka to Hiroshima takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and train. In June in Hiroshima, expect temperatures between 30°C during the day and 23°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Tokyo.

Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
You'll get in some beach time at Moroiso Shores and Nagasawa Beach. Get some historical perspective at Tokyo National Museum and Fukagawa Edo Museum. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tokyo: Ghibli Museum Mitaka (in Mitaka), The Hakone Open-Air Museum (in Hakone-machi) and Hayama Sangaokayama Ryokuchi (in Hayama-machi). Have a day of magic on the 24th (Mon) at Tokyo Disneyland. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sensō-ji, wander the streets of Akihabara, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, and get a taste of the local shopping with Ginza.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Tokyo in 4.5 hours. Other options are to fly; or drive. In June, daily temperatures in Tokyo can reach 30°C, while at night they dip to 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Mon) so you can travel back home.
