Known nationally as an industrial heartland, Nagoya boasts a far more cosmopolitan and cultural core than its reputation would lead you to believe.
Start off your visit on the 12th (Sun): step into the grandiose world of Nagoya Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Atsuta Jingu Shrine, then see the interesting displays at Arimatsu Dashi hall, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Arimatsu no Machinami, and finally stroll through Yamazaki River. Here are some ideas for day two: wander the streets of Sakae, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kasuga Shrine, then indulge your thirst for a good beer at Asahi Beer Nagoya Brewery, and finally see the interesting displays at Nagoya Shisei Shiryokan.

Chiang Mai, Thailand to Nagoya is an approximately 10.5-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly; or do a combination of flight, bus, and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Chiang Mai to Nagoya.
