Situated in a fertile valley between two mountains, the picturesque village of Franschhoek bills itself as a culinary heaven, with renowned wine estates dotting its surroundings.
On the 2nd (Sat), browse for treasures at Masquerade Antiques And Things, take a memorable drive along Franschhoek Pass, then learn about winemaking at Eikehof, and finally learn about winemaking at La Motte Wine Estate. Here are some ideas for day two: learn about winemaking at Fairview Wine and Cheese, then stop by DV Artisan Chocolate, then indulge your thirst for a good beer at Cape Brewing Company, and finally do a tasting at Spice Route Destination.

Straddling the banks of the Eerste River, the university town of Stellenbosch enjoys international fame for its renowned wine estates and gourmet restaurants.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Klein River Cheese and Absolut Art Gallery. Escape the urban bustle at Panthera Africa - Big Cat Sanctuary and Grotto Beach. Venture out of the city with trips to Betty's Bay (Betty's Bay Main Beach & Stony Point Penguin Colony), Voelklip Beach (in Hermanus) and Honingklip Brewery & Restaurant (in Botrivier). Dedicate the 7th (Thu) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's still lots to do: learn about winemaking at Spier Wine Farm and admire the natural beauty at Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden.
