A genuine cowboy city, Cody is famous for its nightly rodeos and its proximity to the protected wilderness areas of the world's first national park, now designated as one of the country's World Heritage Sites.
Explore hidden gems such as Beartooth Hwy and Yellowstone Wildlife Sanctuary. Step out of the city life by going to Chief Joseph Hwy and The Buffalo Bill Reservoir. When in Cody, make a side trip to see Lake Fork Trail in Red Lodge, approximately Red Lodge away. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to West Thumb Geyser Basin and Gibbon Falls. Take a break from the city and head to Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs. Get out of town with these interesting Gardiner side-trips: Yellowstone National Park (Fountain Paint Pot, Lehardy's Rapids, &more). There's still lots to do: explore the wealth of natural beauty at Old Gardiner Road, take a pleasant ride with a tour on horseback, and take in the dramatic natural features at Golden Gate Canyon.
