The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Wed): see the interesting displays at Kyushu National Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tenkai Inari Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Dazaifu Tenman-gu, thenadmire the natural beauty at Komyozen-ji Temple, and finally admire the striking features of Hakata Station.
