The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Get outdoors at Ohori Park and Ishizumi Rice Terraces. Popular historic sites such as Kumamoto Castle and Dazaifu Temmangu are in your itinerary. Explore Fukuoka's surroundings by going to Nijino Matsubara (in Karatsu), Kurume (Kyoho Winery & Fukuoka Prefecture Ryokuchi Center) and Mojiko Retro (in Kitakyushu). Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone difference moving from Singapore Time to Japan Standard Time is 1 hour. Plan for colder temperatures traveling from Singapore in November, with highs in Fukuoka at 20°C and lows at 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Traveling by train from Fukuoka to Hiroshima takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In December, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 13°C, while at night they dip to 4°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Thu) early enough to take a train to Beppu.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Beppu in 2.5 hours. Another option is to do a combination of car and ferry. Expect a daytime high around 13°C in December, and nighttime lows around 6°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Fri) early enough to go by car to Nagasaki.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 7th (Sat): take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Inasa, take an in-depth tour of Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, wander the streets of Shinchi Chinatown, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Glover Garden, and finally contemplate the long history of Takashima Steamlined Gun. Getting from Beppu to Nagasaki by car takes about 3 hours. Other options: take a train; or take a bus. In December, plan for daily highs up to 13°C, and evening lows to 7°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sun) so you can travel to Yakushima-cho.

A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
On the 9th (Mon), indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens and then explore the wealth of natural beauty at Yakusugi Land. On the 10th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: look for all kinds of wild species at Anbo River and then take in the dramatic scenery at Oko no Taki Fall.

You can do a combination of train, flight, and taxi from Nagasaki to Yakushima-cho in 5.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train, ferry, and taxi; or do a combination of ferry and car. Traveling from Nagasaki in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Yakushima-cho: highs are around 18°C and lows about 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Kagoshima.
