The time zone difference moving from Eastern Standard Time to Japan Standard Time is 14 hours. Traveling from Tampa in May, expect Tokyo to be slightly colder, temps between 76°F and 61°F. Your inner history buff will appreciate Arakura Fuji Sengen Jinja and Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Kiunkaku and Izusan Jinja Shrine. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hakone-machi: Fujiyoshida (Chureito Pagoda & Arakurayama Sengen Park), Kakitagawa Park (in Shimizu-cho) and Yamanashi Prefectural Maglev Exhibition Center (in Tsuru). You can do a combination of train and bus from Tokyo to Hakone-machi in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect slightly colder weather when traveling from Tokyo in May: highs in Hakone-machi hover around 65°F, while lows dip to 61°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Naha.

Fly from Hakone-machi to Naha in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight; or do a combination of train, taxi, and flight. In May, Naha is a bit warmer than Hakone-machi - with highs of 79°F and lows of 72°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Sun) early enough to travel to Nagasaki.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Mon): admire the natural beauty at Glover Garden, examine the collection at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, then walk around Nagasaki Peace Park, then pause for some photo ops at Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, and finally steep yourself in history at Suwa Shrine.

You can fly from Naha to Nagasaki in 3.5 hours. Other options are to do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of ferry and train. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Nagasaki when traveling from Naha in May, with lows around 61°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Mon) so you can travel to Kyoto.
