A gateway to the island, Hakodate has gained a reputation for its waterfront attractions, its proximity to some of the island's most popular natural sites, and its seafood.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Wed): take in panoramic vistas at Mt. Hakodate Observatory, take in the awesome beauty at Mount Hakodate, take a stroll through Motomachi, then contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, then don't miss a visit to Hachimanzaka, and finally stop by Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse. Here are some ideas for day two: get to know the fascinating history of Onuma Park Walking Path, ride a horse along Dosanko Farm Hakodate, then admire the landmark architecture of Goryokaku Park, and finally hunt for treasures at Hakodate Morning Market.

Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
Start off your visit on the 10th (Fri): find something for the whole family at Noboribetsu Date Historic Village, then take in the dramatic natural features at Jigokudani, and then take in the natural beauty of Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Noboribetsu Marine Park Nixe, explore the activities along Lake Toya, and then make a trip to Cape Chikyu.

Traveling by train from Hakodate to Noboribetsu takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In July, daytime highs in Noboribetsu are 73°F, while nighttime lows are 62°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sat) to allow enough time to travel to Nakafurano-cho.

Finish up your sightseeing early on the 15th (Wed) so you can catch the train to Sapporo.
