Gippsland travel guide

4.5
Wildlife Areas · National Parks · Beaches
A huge region that stretches from the suburbs of Melbourne to the New South Wales border, Gippsland is an expanse of nature preserves and farmland that supply Melbourne's vegetables and cattle. Stunning natural wonders such as the Strzelecki Ranges, Gippsland Lakes, Walhalia, Baw Baw Plateau, and Phillip Island attract thousands of visitors throughout the year. Interestedly enough, the natural land is mostly infertile, lacking almost every mineral to grow food, but over the years artificial fertilization has yielded a large amount of crops.
