A neat, cosmopolitan city of shaded plazas and laid-back neighborhoods, Cairns serves as a popular base for exploration of the surrounding region and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as a center for watersport activities like surfing or waterskiing.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Palm Cove Beach and Nature & Wildlife Tours. Shop till you drop at Australian Leather Company and Doongal Aboriginal Art Gallery Cairns. Step out of Cairns to go to Palm Cove and see Spas, which is approximately 34 minutes away. There's much more to do: stroll through Esplanade Boardwalk, get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, kick back and relax at Trinity Beach, and step off the mainland to explore Michaelmas Cay.

A lush headland that's part of the forested Daintree Region, Cape Tribulation was so named by Lieutenant--later Captain--Cook in 1770, when his ship ran aground in the area.
On the 3rd (Sat), identify plant and animal life at Daintree Discovery Centre, then enjoy the sand and surf at Cow Bay Beach, then get a new perspective on nature at Daintree Entomological museum, and finally enjoy the sand and surf at Thornton Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 4th (Sun): enjoy the sand and surf at Myall Beach, then hike along Dubuji Boardwalk, then kick back and relax at Cape Tribulation Beach, and finally trot along with a tour on horseback.

Very much a town with an emphasis on the tropical lifestyle, Airlie Beach offers exotic surroundings with palm trees and charming, sandy beaches.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Thu): discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for gifts at Grotty Yachty Clothing, contemplate the waterfront views at Heart Reef, then kick back and relax at Boathaven Beach, and finally kick back and relax at Airlie Beach Lagoon.
