The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
On the 20th (Wed), wander the streets of Mojiko Retro, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Dazaifu Temmangu, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, then let the kids burn off some steam at Ohori Park, and finally browse the different shops at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: kick back and relax at Fukuma Beach, then kick back and relax at Miyajihama Beach, then enjoy breathtaking views from Fukuoka Tower, and finally admire the striking features of Hakata Station.

Manila, Philippines to Fukuoka is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone changes from Philippines Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. Expect colder temperatures when traveling from Manila in November; daily highs in Fukuoka reach 20°C and lows reach 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 22nd (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Karatsu.

The coastal city of Karatsu has long held importance for trade with China and the Korean Peninsula.
Escape the urban bustle at Nijino Matsubara and Mifuneyama Rakuen. Your inner history buff will appreciate Glover Garden and Shinchi Chinatown. Venture out of the city with trips to Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum (in Nagasaki) and Huis Ten Bosch (in Sasebo). You can drive from Fukuoka to Karatsu in an hour. Other options are to take a train; or take a bus. When traveling from Fukuoka in November, plan for a bit cooler days in Karatsu, with highs around 17°C, while nights are a bit warmer with lows around 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 25th (Mon) to allow time for the car ride to Yufu.

On the 29th (Fri), indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, look for all kinds of wild species at Oniyama Jigoku, witness a stunning natural landmark at Hells of Beppu, take in the natural beauty of Kamado Jigoku, then take in the natural beauty of Umi Jigoku, and finally take in the natural beauty of Chinoike Jigoku. On your second day here, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Takasakiyama Nature Zoo, then kick back and relax at Tanoura Beach, then admire nature's wide array of creatures at Oita Marine Palace Aquarium Umitamago, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Usajingu Shrine.

Traveling by car from Yufu to Beppu takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. November in Beppu sees daily highs of 20°C and lows of 13°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Kumamoto.
