The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Tofuku-ji Temple and Shosei-en Garden. Get some cultural insight at Gion and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka--about 1h 15 min away. The adventure continues: explore the historical opulence of Nijo-jo Castle, steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, and take some stellar pictures from Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

Jakarta, Indonesia to Kyoto is an approximately 12-hour combination of bus, flight, and train. You can also do a combination of bus, flight, and train. The time zone difference moving from West Indonesia Time to Japan Standard Time is 2 hours. Traveling from Jakarta in June, things will get a bit cooler in Kyoto: highs are around 32°C and lows about 22°C. Start off your visit on the 12th (Tue): steep yourself in history at Clock Tower (Tokei-dai), then make a trip to Tanukikoji Shopping Street, and then explore the striking landscape of Takino Suzuran Hillside National Park.
