Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Tokyo National Museum and Senso-ji Temple. Edo-Tokyo Museum and Fukagawa Edo Museum will appeal to museum buffs. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Tokyo: Tokyo DisneySea (in Maihama) and Ghibli Museum Mitaka (in Mitaka). Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Tokyo is an approximately 10.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo due to the time zone difference. Expect much colder temperatures when traveling from Kuala Lumpur in November; daily highs in Tokyo reach 19°C and lows reach 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Wed) so you can travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Visit Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Sanjusangendo Temple for their historical value. Museum-lovers will get to explore Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan and Todaiji Temple Cultural Center. Get out of town with these interesting Kyoto side-trips: Nara Park (in Nara) and Osaka (Dotonbori & Universal Studios Japan). Next up on the itinerary: take a stroll through Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, walk around Yodoryokuchi Park, and step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. December in Kyoto sees daily highs of 13°C and lows of 4°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Sun) early enough to take a train to Himeji.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Kick off your visit on the 9th (Mon): take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Takamikura, then steep yourself in history at Yoneda Taishiji Temple, and then step into the grandiose world of Himeji Castle.
