Getting from Kyoto to Tokyo by train takes about 3 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. In October in Tokyo, expect temperatures between 26°C during the day and 18°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Thu) early enough to travel to Kamakura.

The coastal town of Kamakura sits close to Tokyo, with the ancient settlement featuring a number of important historical and cultural sites.

On the 23rd (Fri), look for gifts at Kotonoichi Kamakura, then steep yourself in history at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, then steep yourself in history at Hase-dera Temple, and finally make a trip to Kōtoku-in.

Take a train from Tokyo to Kamakura in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Tokyo in October, plan for slightly colder days in Kamakura, with highs around 21°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Fri) early enough to travel to Sydney.

Lent iconic status as a result of its famous bridge and opera house, Sydney has a down-to-earth charm that enhances its spectacular setting and functional efficiency.
