Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Samurai Armor Photo Studio and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) Terminal No2 Observation Deck. Change things up with these side-trips from Tokyo: Yokohama (Sky Garden & Yokohama Landmark Tower), Kamakura (Meigetsuin (Hydrangea Temple) & Kamakura Hiking Trails) and Yokohama Port Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal (in Naka). The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Mon): explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Toji, then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Nanzen-ji Temple, and finally don't miss a visit to Eikando Zenrinji Temple. On the 30th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tenryuji Temple, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ninna-ji Temple, and finally get the lay of the land with Walking tours.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In June, daytime highs in Kyoto are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 1st (Wed) to allow time for the train ride to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In July, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 36°C, while at night they dip to 28°C. You will leave for home on the 4th (Sat).
