A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): stop by Sky Museum, New Chitose Airport, see the interesting displays at Royce' Chocolate World, have fun at Doraemon Wakuwaku Sky Park, then admire the masterpieces at Sapporo Art Museum, then take an in-depth tour of Hiragishi Local History Museum, and finally stroll around Maruyama Park. You can fly from Sapporo to Shari-cho in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a train. Traveling from Sapporo in June, plan for a bit cooler nights in Shari-cho, with lows around 14°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Abashiri.
