The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Cup Noodle Museum Osaka Ikeda and Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design. Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nijo Castle. Venture out of the city with trips to Dotombori District (in Dotombori), Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum (in Osaka) and Nara (Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, Nara Park, &more). And it doesn't end there: get great views at Mt. Kurama, visit Pontocho District, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Tenryuji Temple, and steep yourself in history at Yasaka Shrine.
