Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Edo-Tokyo Museum and Sensō-ji. Change things up with a short trip to Tokyo DisneySea in Maihama (about 30 minutes away). There's still lots to do: discover the magic at Tokyo Disneyland, stroll through Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, get your game on at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou, and enjoy breathtaking views from Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings.

Catania, Italy to Tokyo is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually an 8 hour difference. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Sun) so you can travel to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, then contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and finally make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. On the next day, see the interesting displays at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, appreciate the history behind Todai-ji Temple, take a stroll through Gion, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Ryoanji Temple.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Kyoto takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. July in Kyoto sees daily highs of 37°C and lows of 28°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Himeji.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 8th (Wed), take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Takamikura, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Yoneda Taishiji Temple, then explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, and finally take in nature's colorful creations at Koko-en Garden.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Himeji in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Kyoto in July, you will find days in Himeji are little chillier (33°C), and nights are about the same (29°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Wed) to allow enough time to take a train to Hiroshima.

Do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Traveling from Hiroshima in July, Ishigaki is somewhat warmer at night with lows of 32°C. You'll have a few hours on the 12th (Sun) to wrap things up before traveling home.
