The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Nijo-jo Castle and Kinkaku-ji are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Toji and Yasaka Shrine. Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Dotonbori in Osaka--about 1h 10 min away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, wander the streets of Gion, and take some stellar pictures from Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

Jakarta, Indonesia to Kyoto is an approximately 12-hour combination of bus, flight, and train. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Jakarta to Kyoto. Traveling from Jakarta in June, things will get a bit cooler in Kyoto: highs are around 32°C and lows about 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Thu) early enough to travel to Nanjo.

Nanjo

With a long Pacific coastline, Nanjo offers fantastic views of the ocean from high cliffs covered with lush greenery, as well as from its long sandy beaches.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Fri): see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, stop by Onna Station Nakayukui Market, and then contemplate the long history of Sefa-Utaki. On the next day, contemplate the long history of Okinawa Peace Memorial Park, then buy something for everyone on your list at Ashibina Outlet Mall, and then explore the fascinating underground world of Blue Cave.
