Manchester is a town in, and one of two shire towns (county seats) of, Bennington County, Vermont, United States. Start off your visit on the 1st (Tue): look for gifts at Dutton Farm Stand, snap pictures at Silk Road Covered Bridge, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at The Old First Church. On the next day, take in the exciting artwork at Southern Vermont Arts Center, take in the dramatic scenery at Lye Brook Falls, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Equinox Preservation Trust.

New York City to Manchester is an approximately 4.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Woodstock is the shire town of Windsor County, Vermont, United States. Visiting Mount Tom and Thundering Falls Trail will get you outdoors. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Calvin Coolidge Homestead and Buttermilk Falls. When in Woodstock, make a side trip to see Plymouth Artisan Cheese in Plymouth, approximately 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: explore the galleries of Montshire Museum of Science, snap pictures at Cornish-Windsor Bridge, contemplate the waterfront views at Ottaquechee River, and identify plant and animal life at Eshqua Bog Natural Area.
