10 days in Taichung & Taipei Itinerary

Known its good weather, Taichung boasts an interesting set of cultural attractions, including many temples showing the development of religious architectural styles in the area and forming focal points for most tours of Taichung.

You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village and Minigolf Taichung. Explore Taichung's surroundings by going to Sun Moon Lake (in Yuchi) and Ren'ai Township (Hehuan Mountain (Hehuanshan) & Cingjing Veterans Farm). There's much more to do: get curious at National Museum of Natural Science, look for gifts at Mark Taiwan, let the kids burn off some steam at Zhenqian Renai Park, and don't miss a visit to Shin Sei Green Waterway.

Singapore, Singapore to Taichung is an approximately 9-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly. When traveling from Singapore in December, plan for little chillier days and much colder nights in Taichung: temperatures range from 24°C by day to 15°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Tue) early enough to travel to Taipei.

Situated in a basin between two mountain ranges, Taipei appeals to tourists with its blend of Asian cultures, living side by side amidst Japanese-era mansions and Taoist temples.

Kids will appreciate attractions like Taipei Zoo and Fuzhong 15. Change things up with these side-trips from Taipei: Leofoo Village Theme Park (in Guanxi), Yeh Liu Geo Park (in Wanli) and Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) (in Ruifang). There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of National Palace Museum, don't miss a visit to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, pause for some photo ops at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and admire the striking features of Taipei 101.

Getting from Taichung to Taipei by train takes about 2 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In December, daily temperatures in Taipei can reach 23°C, while at night they dip to 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 29th (Sun) to allow enough time to travel back home.
