Okinawa City

Okinawa is the second-largest city in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, following Naha, the capital city. On the 19th (Fri), explore the historical opulence of Katsuren Castle Ruins. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, explore the world behind art at Sakima Art Museum, then contemplate the long history of Tomb of Lord Gosamaru, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Awase Shrine.

Traveling by car from Okinawa City to Nago takes an hour. In March in Nago, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 16°C at night. On the 23rd (Tue), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Naha.

Naha

Capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom

Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Visit Shurijo Castle and Stone gate, Old Sogenji Temple for their historical value. Explore hidden gems such as Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum and Naminoue-gu Shrine. There's lots more to do: get up close to creatures of the deep with a dolphin and whale watching tour, enjoy the sand and surf at Naminoue Beach, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Izumo Taisha Okinawa Bunsha Shrine, and look for all kinds of wild species at Shurikinjocho Oakagi Tree.

You can drive from Nago to Naha in 1.5 hours. Another option is to take a bus. In March, daily temperatures in Naha can reach 24°C, while at night they dip to 19°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 25th (Thu) early enough to travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki

Okinawa Prefecture is the southernmost prefecture of Japan. It comprises hundreds of the Ryukyu Islands in a chain over long.
