Writer Pearl Buck once called New York City “a place apart,” and this giant urban center remains unlike any other in the world.
Get a sense of the local culture at Times Square and Statue of Liberty National Monument. 9/11 Memorial and Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site will appeal to history buffs. Change things up with a short trip to Great Neck Steppingstone Park in Great Neck (about 32 minutes away). There's still lots to do: admire the masterpieces at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, appreciate the extensive heritage of World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, examine the collection at New York Public Library, and admire the striking features of Rockefeller Center.
