You can drive from Hikone to Miyazu in 2.5 hours. Other options are to take a train; or do a combination of train and bus. In October, daytime highs in Miyazu are 68°F, while nighttime lows are 58°F. On the 17th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Toyooka.
