Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
On the 24th (Mon), see the interesting displays at Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum. Keep things going the next day: enjoy breathtaking views from Kuchu Teien Observatory and then get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan.

Manila, Philippines to Osaka is an approximately 7.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. The time zone difference moving from Philippines Time (PHT) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is 1 hour. Prepare for much colder weather when traveling from Manila in February: high temperatures in Osaka hover around 11°C and lows are around 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 26th (Wed) so you can take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Start off your visit on the 27th (Thu): contemplate the long history of Heian Shrine, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and then contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera Temple. On the next day, make a trip to Gion, then step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kinkaku-ji, and finally steep yourself in history at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine.

Kyoto is very close to Osaka. In February, daytime highs in Kyoto are 11°C, while nighttime lows are 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Fri) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. February in Hiroshima sees daily highs of 11°C and lows of 3°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 29th (Sat) early enough to take a train to Hatsukaichi.

On the 1st (Sun), contemplate the long history of Itsukushima Shrine, then head off the coast to Miyajima, and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Misen.

You can take a train from Iwakuni to Dazaifu in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of train and bus. March in Dazaifu sees daily highs of 17°C and lows of 7°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Fukuoka.

Kick off your visit on the 4th (Wed): let little ones run wild at Ohori Park, take in the pleasant sights at Fukuoka Tower, don't miss a visit to Hakata Station, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kushida Shrine, and finally buy something for everyone on your list at Tenjin Underground Shopping Center.
