Mercury House, Stone Town

2.0
See a collection of photographs detailing the legendary British rock band Queen at Mercury House, birthplace of the band's frontman Freddie Mercury. Born here in 1946 as Farrokh Bulsara, the flamboyant singer grew up in the area, where his father worked as a civil servant in the British colonial administration. Take a walking tour of the neighborhoods where Mercury spent the first nine years of his life, as well as the Zoroastrian shrine where his India-born Parsi parents worshipped until they moved to Essex in 1964. Stop by the onsite store to pick up posters and other Queen memorabilia. Plan a Zanzibar City trip in moments using our itinerary builder.

  • As a memorial to Freddie Mercury rather pathetic. You can only see the door and some faded photos. Too bad, for such an exceptional artist you could expect more

  • Nothing much, but if you're in Stone Town it's mandatory to pass and take a picture and honor a great man of world music

  • We didn’t do the tour, just took pictures outsides his house. There were a lot of people outside looking at his house and taking photos. It’s also a nice starting point if you want to explore the stone town // old fort.
  • It's a nice place to visit while you are in Zanzibar, especial when you're in STONE TOWN.
