Forodhani Gardens, Stone Town

#3 of 94 in Things to do in Zanzibar City
Garden · Park
Situated between sea and city, Forodhani Gardens hosts a bubbling social and culinary hub frequented by locals and visitors alike. Established as a silver jubilee park in 1936 in honor of Sultan Khalifa, the gardens underwent renovation in 2010 to host three cafes overlooking the bay, numerous walkways, and scenic landscaping. Visit the gardens in the evening to experience its bustling food market, mingling the tastes and smells of Zanzibar, including delicacies of seafood, cassava, and sweet potato soups. Expect crowds at night; visit by day for a more relaxed atmosphere and views of the water and islands beyond.
