National Museum of Natural Science, North District

I've been to a few national museums around the world and they have all ensured that all exhibitions are multi lingual to cater to the majority of tourists. While I'm not suggesting for a second that English speaking tourists make up the majority of visitors, they will still account for a significant portion so when only a few exhibits have bilingual descriptions then it's difficult to fully enjoy the museum. I was impressed with the exhibit on human life which was bilingual. Seems as though the newer exhibits are bilingual and the older ones are only in Chinese. Building was quite outdated but that's only a small thing. A lot of families with small children.

This is a very clean and well maintained science museum. A great place to take children for a day out. Many restaurants to choose from walking distance from the museum, should you not want McDonald's. Friendly and helpful staff throughout. If you have children and go to museums often, consider membership. The membership is NT200 (NT50 more than adult admission) and can be used not only for admission to this museum, but also discounted entry into other museums island wide. Be sure not to miss the exhibits on B1 in the main building- some fun hands on exhibits for children. There is also a discovery area for children of younger ages in the attached building opposite the main entrance.
